Changeover
A changeover is the transition between acts or programme segments. Plan equipment resets, microphone handovers and checks before the next performance.
The work between two items
A changeover is the period when the stage and production setup move from one act or segment to the next. It can involve clearing equipment, moving instruments, changing microphones, loading playback or checking the next act’s connections. It is part of the programme, even when the audience sees only an interval or an introduction.
Plan from the actual differences
Compare the outgoing and incoming stage plots. Identify what stays, what moves, who moves it and what needs checking afterwards. Ask the production team to assess the time required rather than assigning the same short gap to every act. A transition from a speech to a full band is a different task from handing one microphone to another speaker.
Keep the handover clear
Name the person who confirms that the next segment is ready and the person who gives the start cue. If a changeover runs late, pass the revised order to sound, lighting, the presenter and the organiser through the agreed show contact.
